Tipster Cup: Welcome

As in previous years, there will be a Cup competition for the Tipster this year.

Since we have 19 participants, 6 people needed to play in a "Preliminary Round".
The three winners of the Prelim Round proceed to the Cup proper, so that we have 16 people in Round 1 (or "Achtelfinale" as the Germans call it).

The Preliminary Round of the Tipster Cup saw:

  • Simon v Christian
  • Andreas v Ralph
  • Ozren v Paul

compete over Games 31-36.

In those 6 matches, a total of 127 points were earned, with the following outcome:

  • Simon 18 v Christian 24
  • Andreas 15 v Ralph 20
  • Ozren 26 v Paul 24
That means Simon, 2016 Tipster Cup winner Andreas, and Paul are out of the Cup, while Christian, Ralph and Ozren proceed to the Cup proper.

The 2020 Tipster Cup commences with start of the knock-out round at the European Championships. The full draw can be seen in this beautiful screenshot:
The draw for the Tipster Cup includes:

  • An all-Malaysia clash between Alex and Rachel
  • 2nd-place Joris v all-round hero Ben
  • 2018 Tipster Cup winner Andre v 2016 Tipster winner Ines
  • 3rd-place Craig versus last-place Steffen
  • Newly returned Tino versus newcomer Franzi
  • Axel v 2021 Mini Tipster winner Christian
  • Ralph versus 2018 Tipster winner Ozren
Yes, the draw was randomised.

Round One begins with Wales - Denmark and concludes with Sweden - Ukraine.

All you have to do is keep tipping.

Game 50 Report: England - Denmark

England - Denmark England beat Denmark 2:1 with Mikkel Damsgaard opening the scoring in the 30th minute. Seven people tipped a 2:1 victory. Well done to Alex, Andre, Ben, Ines, Joris, Robert and Simon: 10 points for each of you. Paul tipped a 1-goal victory, giving him 7 points for the correct Margin. Four more people tipped some other English victory for 5 points each. Ben tipped Damsgaard to score first, earning him 3 points. Axel and Soren both tipped the 33rd minute, the closest Time, gaining 3 points each.

Game 41 Report: Croatia - Spain

Croatia - Spain Spain beat Croatia 5:3 in Extra Time. The first goal was a quite impressive own goal in the 20th minute. Thirteen people tipped Spain to win, but nobody tipped the correct Score. Ben, Craig and Paul tipped a 2-goal victory for the Spaniards and gain 7 points each. Since the first goal was (another) own goal, there are no points awarded there. The closest Time was tipped by Ines, 2 minutes away, giving her 3 points.
